PHYSICAL THERAPY IN SALINAS VALLEY
CUSTOMIZED REHABILITATION PROGRAMS
Regaining physical function can be one of the most challenging aspects
of your recovery from illness, injury, or surgery. In physical therapy,
patients work closely with trained rehabilitation professionals who educate
them on simple exercises designed to stimulate healing. It can be both
alarming and frustrating when you realize your condition has made it harder
to perform daily activities, but by working with a physical therapist
you can set realistic goals for your treatment that can help you regain
WHAT DOES PHYSICAL THERAPY INVOLVE?
There is no “one size fits all” solution when it comes to physical
therapy. Two people with the same injury can have very different experiences.
Your recovery process may be longer or shorter than someone with a similar
condition, but that is no reason to get discouraged. It is important that
your physical therapist takes the time to give you individualized attention
so that they can understand what treatments to which your mind and body
will be most responsive.
Physical therapy may involve:
- Stretches and exercises
- Temporary or permanent use of medical equipment like crutches or wheelchairs
- Physical evaluations to monitor progress
- Referrals to counseling services
Your therapist may ask you questions about your regular day to day routine
to get a better idea on what aspects of your treatment will be most immediately
beneficial. For example, if have high cabinets in your house but are confined
to a wheelchair, the initial part of your therapy might focus on ways
to reach high places without assistance.
Precision Physical Therapy
Physical therapy and occupational hand therapy facilities are located in
the Regional Orthopedic Care Center. Our physical therapists evaluate
and treat patients and supervise physical therapy assistants providing
complete rehabilitation services onsite.
Our certified hand therapists treat upper extremity problems and fit splints
or orthotic devices to restore hand function. The therapies we offer include:
Aquatic Therapy – This is a low-resistance training program that allows participants to build
strength without putting too much strain on their body.
Athletic Taping – We provide instruction on how to properly apply athletic tape to keep
bones and muscle in stable positions during a workout or activity.
Biofeedback – Through biofeedback, we can help patients focus their mind on areas of
their body to gain more control over conditions like migraines, pains,
and other issues that can be stress related.
Dance Injury Care – Our team includes a group of physicians experienced in treating conditions
that frequently affect dancers.
Gait Analysis – This is an evaluation of how you walk or run to determine if anything
in your gait could be responsible for a reoccurring injury.

by holding muscles and joints in stable positions.
McConnell Taping – Another form of rehabilitative taping, this method is designed to reduce
Mulligant Techniques – These are physical therapy techniques that involve smooth exercises to
help patients improve their range of motion.
Muscle Energy – A therapy that involves the flexing and stretching of muscles to help
improve joint movement and decrease pain.
Positional Release – In these exercises, participants move to comfortable positions to interrupt
pain signals and alleviate chronic joint pains.
Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction Treatment – This is a condition of the lower spine that causes pain in the legs. We
help patients alleviate pain and regain their mobility.
Sports Rehabilitation – We put injured athletes through a safe workout routine to help them keep
up their strength and heal their injury.
Return to work programs include the use of a Baltimore Therapeutic Machine
(BTE). This device can be set up to simulate specific work and home activities.
A patient’s control of movement and strength can be monitored and
changes in treatment made to progressively improve and restore function
using the BTE.
